Grant comment: "Output power listed is ERP. This device is authorized to operate in the GMRS (Part 95E) radio service." The grantee is LedgeTech LLC. The grant's label exhibit (fccid.io, Label & Label Location) shows "ROCKY TALKIE", "Model: RT-5W", "Voltage: 7.4V", "Maximum output power: 5W", LedgeTech, LLC. Rocky Talkie's current Expedition manual doesn't print the FCC ID. The model name RT-5W, the 7.4 V supply and the 5 W rating all match the Expedition (5 Watt), and this is LedgeTech's only GMRS grant (its other two are FRS), so we treat it as the Expedition's grant. Maker's claims vs FCC filing
"5 watts of output—the highest allowed for handheld GMRS radios" source
4.487 W ERP max (462 main) on the grant grant
The filing doesn't contradict the power figure, since ERP and transmitter output aren't the same measure. We could not find a 5 W cap for handhelds on main channels in 47 CFR 95.1767(a), which only lists mobile, repeater, base (50 W) and fixed (15 W). The 5 W ERP limit in the rules applies to the 462 MHz interstitial channels (95.1767(b)). "Highest allowed" is unverified.
